Generally the way I work that seems to be agreeable with most companies is that we first discuss what it is your looking for. After that I will work up a timeline, workflow and price. If the timeline and price are acceptable all work begins with an agreed upon deposit, the amount of deposit depends on how much initial work needs to be done in order to start the project. All details of the cost, dates of delivery etc... will be outlined in a clear contract between us.

After clarification of your goals and a short conversation about my background findings. I start concept development.
For basic graphic design I will deliver 2-5 concepts for the items below:

First we confirm the architecture and user flow with a high level map.
Then I start with an outline of element on screens using wireframes. Once the wireframes are reviewed and revisions made, I will present color and css based on the companies branding or discussed color theme.
Before continuing I will confirm screen functions to begin a functional prototype.
Prototype testing
After the prototype has been reviewed and revisions made. We can discuss if a user focus group should be used to further test the UX.
If a focus group is used we will work up task for users and collect information from the group. Adjustemts to the prototype wil be made from the findings of the focus group and tested again.
If the prototype is approved then Final styles and templates are produced.
When all assets are finished everything will be delivered to the developer who will produce the final code.
Additional considerations:

We have a discussion about using pre-exsiting software like Magento or WordPress depending on what type of functions the website will provide. if you have or need Hosting SSL etc... Do you have copywriting or photography etc...

For existing software we can customize the template to match your prefered design. It is highly reccomended to use existing software because it will be easier for you to update and make changes in the future, with a little training about the backend. If you want a website built from scratch you will need to be familar with html and php to make changes.
For ecommerce websites you will need a payment gateway such as PayPal or Stripe. Once the content and design is finalized I can prepare a short tutorial on how to update and make changes to the website.
For motion graphic design I will prepare two to three concepts based on our conversation. After they are reviewd and changes are made I can deliver all the relevant assets for the project and output the final in several video formats.

After reviewing a project requirements I will usually followup by phone or video to confirm the requirements before any work begins.
I will present my concetual thinking to make sure that it is aligned with the current direction of the project outlining timelines and deadlines for assets.
For application and websites designs I will submit wireframes outling page content and artchitecture before and coding begins.
Engaged with work for you I will always be available to answer questions share my opinions if asked. Anything that you require over the course of the project.
All work documentation shall be organized and submitted to you. Any technical quides including login server addresses etc. shall be documented and instructions for usage and updates shall be explained.
Trust and responsiblity are the most important thing between myself and the client. I belive we both should feel we are recieving what we agreed to. If for any reason that should change I would hope we would both be open enough to have a reasonable dialogue to resolve any issues.
